To make my question a little bit more clear, i understand his japanese very well but i still have alot of difficulty understanding alot of other people. so that is why i was wondering if he maybe leaves out alot of words that would be used day to day to make it easier to understand?

  1. He runs a language-learning channel, so it makes sense that he would speak and enunciate in a way that’s eloquent and understandable to his audience of advanced yet not completely fluent viewers, though not necessarily as fluid and natural as someone speaking completely naturally for a perfectly fluent audience who can understand relaxed full-speed speech.

I don’t watch him religiously, so I can’t say for certain, but he’s definitely not prone to using big complicated words, from what I know. Maybe you’re just used to hearing someone talk about aspects of the Japanese language compared to other topics.

I was in a similar spot when I first started out listening to 日本語の森, where I could understand N2 and N1 grammar explanations in full Japanese perfectly at N3, and yet I still couldn’t watch a variety TV show or something.
