Itinerary Check/Advice – 9.5 days in Tokyo/Osaka/Kyoto

Hi everyone! First time poster, long time lurker:) I’m traveling to Japan in around a week (ik it’s kinda late to do a itin check but oh well haha) with my boyfriend for a 10 day trip (10th day is going to airport so will not be counting that). I would like to see how doable this is/if people have better suggestions or replacements especially for some ultra touristy spots.

Notes:

* I personally love shrines and art and my BF and I both love eating! We are both in our early twenties. I also enjoy thrifting and shopping but will only have half a checked bag of space maybe to bring new stuff back (will be going to Korea after so still need space for that haha)
* speaking of shrines, where do I find those little shrine notebooks?
* Jet lag is not too much of a problem for us (We both travel a lot and honestly are pretty good w sleeping just enough on a place to adjust to a new country)
* Pretty flexible on most things besides the places I’ve marked as book.
* Have no interest in theme parks (would be open to aquariums if they seem super special)
* I have some food places listed that we really wanted to hit or booked but other days were left free
* I found a lot of this online (in this sub) or through tiktok and youtube so if there is something too hyped that you have a better recommendation for pls let me know! I would love that

**Day 0.5**

* The BF arrives in NRT, Tokyo in the late afternoon . We live in different cities so arrive at different times.
* No solid plan for this day, BF will get acquainted with public transport and most likely sleep early

**Day 1 – Tokyo** \[Asakusa, Akihabara\]

* I arrive super early in the morning (\~6 am)
* Was gonna ship my luggage to the hotel (staying in Asakasa) and meet my BF at Senso-ji
* I wanted to walk by/check out Sumida River and check out some other shrines that might be in the area
* Lunch: we were thinking Kura Sushi just for the experience
* Explore Akihabara (I enjoy anime and cute things and was told this was a good location for that)
* Dinner: potentially Gyukatsu

**Day 2 – Tokyo** \[Ginza & Toyosu\]

* Team Labs in the early morning **Booked**
* Lunch: TSUJIHAN Zeitaku Don – I know this is now super popular but I thought it could be worth. If anyone knows a good donburi place besides this one in the area I am super open to giving it a try instead
* Imperial Palace
* Shopping at Muji, Uniqlo, Tokyo Station Character Street
* Dinner: Teppanyaki 10 Ginza **Booked**

**Day 3 – Tokyo** \[Harajuku, Shibuya, Shinjuku\]

* Meiji Jingu, Tokyo Metropolitan Building (for the views)
* Lunch: Nabezo Shinjuku Sanchome Store (couldn’t get reserations so are attempting walk-in – any alternative Shabu Shabu suggestions?)
* Shibuya Crossing
* Mipig cafe **Booked**
* Dinner: Kougai Ken Omurice **Booked**
* potentially Golden Gai for bar experience

**Day 4- Tokyo** \[I always plan a rest/makeup day to do things we didn’t get around to or to sleep in\]

* Tsukiji or Toyosu Market
* Nothing else during day
* Manten Sushi Marunouchi (Omakase) **Booked**

**Day 5 – Osaka**

* Take JR train to Osaka
* Spend time in Dotomburi
* Izakaya Pub Crawl (airbnb experience I saw recommended here)

**Day 6 – Nara and Osaka**

* Go see the deer!
* Potentially check out Isuien Garden, Neiraku Museum, and Yoshikien Garden
* I wanna go to Todaiji but it seems a little out of the way – will it be hard to get there?
* Pounding Mochi
* head back to Osaka and visit Solaniwa Onsen (onsen theme park?)

**Day 7 – Kyoto**

* I have a list of shrines and an [online walking tour](https://www.insidekyoto.com/arashiyama-bamboo-grove-guide-walking-tour) I found to spend the day
* I actually don’t have many food plans for Kyoto so would appreciate help here

**Day 8 – Kyoto**

* Imperial Palace **Booked**
* More temples and shrines and gardens

**Day 9 – Back to Tokyo**

* Take JR train back (we booked our flights out of Tokyo so had to do this)
* Capybara cafe **booked**
* Studio Ghibli Museum **booked**

**Day 10** \- **Airport Day**

* Just head to airport and lounge around before our flights in the afternoon
