Advice on a possible missing persons

Hi everyone, I know this is a bit unrelated to the thread but I’m not sure where else to look but around 3 weeks ago my friend who lives in Japan (Ishikawa prefacture) stopped going online completely, and the last contact I know of was with their partner, where my friend had to call an ambulance because of a head injury. After that phone call, we haven’t had any form of contact with them for 3 weeks. This is not typical behaviour at all, as never going online would cut contact with their partner as its an overseas relationship and I only knew them online too.

Since then we have tried to contact housing agencies and hospitals, both of which have came up completely empty handed. We also have had someone who supposedly could find info professionally, but they also came up empty handed presumably due to Japans extreme laws on privacy, especially online. We don’t have anyone to contact that is related to them, and even if we did their family has proven to be hostile towards them at times so that wouldn’t be an option. At this point we are getting desperate and it seems like there is nothing we can do so I’m making this post to ask for any possible advice on things we could try, really anything at all. Contacting local police is something we have considered but its a last resort, and especially because the police might possibly involve the family which could cause alot of issues. So if anyone has any possible advice or tips or ways to find information, it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

  1. that really is nothing the internet can help you with.

I would advice to go to police (I understand it might not lead to anything), but because of the head insury they might also be alerted to the severity of the situation. Yes, they might involve the family (if your friend did not make another person the emergency contact explicitly), so be it. in the assumed worst case here, every moment counts. Police is the way to go.
