Should I buy an Ipad for learning japanese? My phone is laggy and I want to practice writing on an ipad. I want to make more space for my phone and also so that I will have a paperless practice.

1. if you do, buy a pencil (apple pencil or another). It is so much better than with the finger!

2. If money is not a big consideration, sure.

   I learned my Kanjis through an app in iPad that requires me to write it as well. I tried learning through decks, but writing Kanji is still my most effective way of memorization.

   However, nowadays I just practice in my phone because it is easily accessible wherever I am. Bringing out the iPad from my backpack is more めんどくさい

3. don’t buy it. It’s just an excuse to buy that thing. It looks incredible when you watch other youtubers write pretty on that, but it’s not necessary. Just use normal pen, paper and any computer.

4. I love my Galaxy tab and use the pen all the time for handwriting notes for work.
   I’m a long term user of OneNote and store all my food recipes on there and use the tablet in the kitchen for cooking. The large screen is also great for watching media and I carry it around the house while I’m cleaning, doing laundry etc.
   For Japanese study, I like having the larger screen to read articles and tap words to translate on the fly. I use Samsung notes to handwrite scratch notes for Kanji practice, but I still gravitate toward pen and paper for actual grammar study. I have a paper notebook for that.
   I also installed Typhon to read Japanese epubs. I found this a bit clunky because I have downloaded books from Aozora (Japanese Gutenberg project) and they aren’t compatible straight off the site. If you purchase Japanese ebooks you might have a nicer experience.
   Oh, and reading magazines from my local library looks so nice and is so much more comfortable than viewing on a mobile or my computer. My library has a small selection of Japanese lifestyle, business and science mags.
   I have no regrets buying my tablet, I use it nearly every day for work and I use it a lot in my leisure time for all kinds of things.

   Writing kanji on an iPad is an expensive excuse
