  1. Takayama is a pretty cool choice – I feel like not going to Kyoto etc. via Shirakawa/Kanazawa is a bit of a missed opportunity seeing you’re in the area (and a day from Kyoto or Osaka for Kanazawa would be a good trade, IMO)
