Company offered me ownership stake in spun-off entity. Status of residence issues?

The company I am working off is creating a separate entity to handle a very specific subset of their business. In addition to running it, they’ve offered me direct equity.

I’m currently on an engineer/specialist/international service visa. Will this cause any issues?

  1. You would likely need to change status to a Business Manager visa. You should consult with an immigration lawyer.

  2. There is no restriction on owning stock based on status of residence.

But if you an officer of the company (CEO etc, yakuin) you might need to change status.

  3. Through my experience, you can be an owner and director of the company but not Representative Director. You can also work for the company as a non-manager employee, if you want to be RD then you need to change visa to business manager
