  1. What is happening in Tokyo? They are up in the the Red zone again?

  2. Recommendation for antigen test kit? Look like the government approved ones are only available at physical store?

  3. Have you seen any *currently active* & _free_ PCR monitoring test tents or clinics operating between Nakano and Ikebukuro?

The maskless westerner sat next to me on yesterday’s flight, coughing all the way from Sapporo to Narita yesterday has got me anxious.

  4. When I went to seaworld last weekend the trainers swimming with the killer whales were wearing masks. They would dive into the pool, the water would force their mask down to their chin, they would resurface, pull their mask back up over their nose, over and over and over again. I stopped getting angry at these theatrics at this point, I actually find them entertaining now.

  5. Hi everyone,
Anyone have any experience of being allowed onto a flight to Japan using a ‘Covid certificate of Recovery ‘? And if so, what happened when you arrived in Japan?

I have Japanese PR, visited UK and came down with Covid late June. Flying back mid July. I called ANA and they told me they WOULD accept an official ‘Covid Recovery Certificate’ from a doctor to let me on the plane, but I thought ONLY a negative PCR test (in the official format) 72 hours before boarding was acceptable. If they did let me on, what would happen on arrival?

I’m concerned because my PCR test clinic has warned me that it is possible to test positive for Covid upto 3 months after recovery.

I’ll call the Japanese embassy in London next week, but if anyone has any experience of failing a PCR test just before boarding/ using a ‘certificate of recovery’ I’d appreciate any input.

    Thank you!

  6. To make sure, when returning to Japan residents are not allowed to use public transportation or regular taxis to return home, right? So my options would be to rent a car or ask a friend to pick me up?

Sorry if this has already been clarified somewhere.

  7. Anyone had family visiting with the new “exceptional circumstances” clause for visiting relatives?
I was planning on having my parents come under that clause, after not being able to see them in years, but there aren’t any specific events such as weddings/funerals/visiting relatives in hospital that would “justify” their application – just coming to see me and spending time together.
Just wondering if that’s still applicable, or if they are being strict with applications (I assume it will vary by country/consulate, but just wanted to hear other experiences for peace of mind).

  8. Friend of mine who works in a restaurant got it recently, he was vaccinated, and still got a fever of 40 degrees for 4 days. He couldn’t take it anymore and finally called the ambulance. They sat him in an empty room with a plastic chair and a veneer wall, took some tests, and told him that because he only has a fever they can’t do anything for him and told him to go home and rest. They didn’t test him for Covid either and charged him 12000 for the ambulance and medicines. Amazing

  9. When traveling to the US, my husband (Japanese National) has to fill out an attestation form. Since negative COVID tests aren’t required anymore as of June 12 for entry to the US, does my husband still have to fill out the Covid test/ Covid vaccine attestation form and leave the test part blank (section 1) or just the Covid 19 attestation form?

Edit: I emailed the Japanese consulate in NYC (closest one to our final destination) and they said they aren’t sure which one my husband has to fill out.

  10. Anyone have any luck getting prescribed antivirals for covid? Symptoms started on the 26th, got a positive PCR on the 28th, got prescribed a bunch of kanpou that did absolutely nothing. A week later and I still feel like total ass, would really like some medicine that actually works so I can get over this.

Called dr about it and they’re sending us on a wild goose chase of bureaucratic phonecalls, any advice appreciated. Thanks.

  11. Have any Canadians dealt with having doses from different countries and then re-entering Canada?

I got my first dose in Canada, and my second in Japan.

Because my province only sees me as having one does, my official Canadian proof of vaccination shows “Partially Vaccinated”.

The English version of the Japanese Covid website says that proof of vaccination isn’t available for people who were vaccinated outside of Japan so I’m not sure I can get this proof either.

I need to go back for a wedding but I can’t afford to stuck in a two week quarantine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  12. I am an American planning to go back home for the first time in 3 years on July 22nd.

I bought the ticket two months ago and made an appointment at a hospital on the 21st for the mandatory covid test.

As you know, it is no longer mandatory.

I am thinking of canceling it just so I don’t have to worry about it.

Have any other Americans gone back without a test since June 12th? Is it just that easy? I am very anxious and would appreciate an answer. Thank you.

  13. Looks like Tokyo is mulling additional covid restrictions, including bringing back the 8pm curfew.
