Hello
What’s the process of returning an item back to Amazon US?
I requested a refund on the website and it has me print out a few papers
And I think I selected to pay the shipping myself
The return address is a US address (I am in Japan and returning to Amazon US)
The “Return Mailing Label” is self explanatory, they are pasted outside the box.
It says to give the “Commercial Invoice to the carrier you select to ship your return package”
Who exactly do I give the “Commercial Invoice” to?
I asked the guy at JP Post and he had no idea.
(I plan on using JP post)
The “Return Authorization Slip” is self-explanatory.
So I short, who do I give the “Commercial Invoice” to? The guy at JP post? And what do they do with it? Do they even need it? Do they know what to do with it?
All the return papers are in English, so they can’t even read it.
Do I mail this US Amazon return item to the US using a normal EMS form?
I am so confused
And I have a set date to return the item.
Could someone explain the process in an easy to under manner?
That would be helpful
Thanks

As long as the return item slip is included in the package and you send it back to the correct address with Amazon you should be fine. You should get tracking from EMS. But it can take a while.
I don’t think the commercial invoice to the carrier thing matters if you’re paying for shipping.
Don’t know about Amazon but I export shit several times a month and have to work with the 3PL to make sure the paperwork is correct. For export from Japan and import back into the US they’ll need the commercial invoice and a packing list that matches the CI. You’ll attach the packing list to the box (they normally have little plastic envelop things so customs can take them out and return them).and the commercial invoice will go to the shipper who will be dealing with import/export. If things are going to be stuck in customs it will be because the CIs aren’t correct and customs needs things clarified.
Know that depending on the value of the item, and the possible return shipping cost (esp if it is big/bulky/heavy), returning it may not be worth it.
I contacted Amazon US via chat, and was sent an international shipping invoice through DHL. Called the Japanese office here, and they came to my workplace and picked it up. Just keep the box open for them to verify the contents.
I contacted Amazon US through their chat feature and asked for a refund for my item. I told them the item was defective, after a quick chat with a staff, they asked me if I preferred a new item or a refund, I chose refund. They refunded me the whole amount plush shipping and told me I can discard the defective item. The item was about 50 USD, though I am not sure if they would do the same for more expensive items.
Just try to contact them through the chat feature and tell them the item is defective, it went very fast and smooth for me.
