Transportation around Okayama

Hey looking for a decent way to move myself around the city without needing to call on my boss to drive me everywhere as the main city is about 30 minutes away. Does anyone have any recommendations for someone trying to get around the countryside without a license?

  1. Any other mode of transport that isn’t private car? So bus, train, taxi, bicycle, horse and cart, etc.

  2. Within Okayama City, Okaden Bus is the main bus company [https://okayama-kido.co.jp/bus/jikoku.html](https://okayama-kido.co.jp/bus/jikoku.html) If where you normally go to is not covered by the bus or their schedule doesn’t match up with yours, I’d go for an electric assist bike.

  3. I just bike everywhere here, though I live in the city proper. If you wanna get into the city from the countryside you can get a folding bike and bring it on the train in a bag

  4. Others have pointed out the main options, but just to add, starting July 1st, the laws regarding electric kickboards are changing, a driver’s license is no longer needed to ride one from that point onwards. [Segway Ninebot](https://www.ninebot.jp/) is an example of a model sold in Japan.

  5. Thanks everyone for your replies. Yeah so I live in Mitsubishi shitori and haven’t had any luck with the taxi situation yet. I’ll probably end up getting a bike but damn those hills.
