Kindle in japan

Phones tag because there’s never an appropriate tag for my questions. I got a kindle from Amazon.jp. Set the language to English and am using an American Amazon account to sign in. All of my menus are Japanese aside from english book titles and authors. My top recommendations are manga and Japanese books. Is it because I bought the kindle in Japan? What’s even the point of having a language setting if it doesn’t work.

EDIT: SOLVED – Reset the Kindle (not restarted) and now it’s all English

  1. I bought mine in Japan, I use my japanese amazon account and everything is in English. There are a ton of japanese books that show up sure but it’s not hard to find English content

  2. Amazon likes to link your accounts in weird ways, do you also have a Japanese Amazon account using the same email? I’ve run into a similar problem when I was trying to switch my kindle to the Japanese store

Even though you think you’ve logged into your American account, you’ve likely linked it to your Japanese one. The easiest way I know to check it is:
    1. Go to Amazon (Japan)
    2. Accounts & Lists
    3. Your Account
    4. Digital content and devices > Content and devices
    5. At the top click the “Devices” tab
If you see your “Kindle” in here under an “Amazon devices” section, it’s linked to the wrong acc
