Tohoku University Admission Guidelines (EN)?

I don’t know if this is the right subreddit, but I’ve seen a lot about jp universities here so I might as well try my luck. I’m looking for an admission guideline for undergraduate courses under courses taught in JP, more specifically, under Faculty of Science. I went to their [Admission Center Website](http://www.tnc.tohoku.ac.jp/), and (god forgive the irony) I can’t make a thing or two of japanese yet (which is why I’d go for a language school soon enough). They also have some [guidelines](http://www.tnc.tohoku.ac.jp/images/yoko/2024_senbatsu.pdf) posted, and I tried to translate to English, but ofc it turns messed up. Can anyone help me find an EN version or make head and tails of it? Thanks.

  2. oh hey it’s you again! i opened the guidelines that you found and requirements for international students are listen from page 60 to 61. i have some free time so i can help translate some stuffs for you.

if you’re aiming for faculty of science, you need to take four subjects for EJU: Japanese as a Foreign Language, mathematics course 2, and two of the science subjects (physics, chemistry, biology). the good news is, they accept scores from either japanese EJU or english EJU. their requirements are minimum 270 points for the Japanese language subject, and 260 points for math+science subjects combined.

other than that they also require TOEFL iBT score, above 79 points. they also have written exam (just mathematics) and interview, all conducted in japanese.

    hope this helps!

  3. Hi there! Tohoku University mainly provide courses in Japanese. But as of late, most universities in Japan, Tohoku included, have started providing courses in English. However, the number of seats are limited, hence the competition can be sky high… That’s the case for most top-ranked Universities in Japan. Be it Waseda, Sophia, Tohoku, Ritsumeka, Kyoto Uni… its quite hard to get in.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean to discourage you at all. Maybe you’ll make it, hehe 😉

Visit this [website](http://www.tohoku.ac.jp/en/academics/courses_in_english.html). There you’ll see 3 courses, AMC, IMAC-U and AMB. There are the only three courses they provide for non-Japanese speakers for an Undergraduate degree. There’s a lot more Graduate programs though.

    Hope this helps!

By the way, are you looking to get it an Undergraduate or Graduate program?
