Auto Mode on Air Con

I’ve tried researching this, but have found nothing maybe because I have an older model (Mitsubishi).

When I put my air con on auto mode, the temperature disappears and instead these single digits appear (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2, etc.) Does anyone know what they mean?

I assume it’s for how much deviation I want from the set temperature. For example, if I set the temperature to 28, 0 means to have it exactly at 28, and +1 means to have it at 29? I really don’t know, but that was the only thing I could think of. If someone has any idea or has had a model like this, I would really appreciate the help. Thank you!
