TCL 55c815 “Please insert B-CAS card”

TCL 55c815 “Please insert B-CAS card”

Hey peeps

Already asked at a TV-related forum but no replies.

I bought this TV for about 2 years ago, been working perfectly up until now. Mostly it is actually still working perfectly fine except a few days ago I can’t watch TV channels anymore(via antenna cable).

Suddenly a message pops up on the screen asking me to insert a B-CAS card, I am not entirely sure what a B-CAS card is.

I think this is something that is built-in to the TV?

Just bought a new antenna cable but still has the same issue. I tried factory resetting the TV and re-did the whole first time setup and it says the B-CAS connection test fails.

Anyone who can tell me how to fix this or maybe at least point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Edit: Forgot to mention, I have checked the TV’s manual and also inspected the TV itself and it does not seem to have a B-CAS card slot.

Edit#2: I found the Mini B-CAS Card, pulled it out, wiped it off and put it back in. Now it is working again. Thanks for all your help.

  1. It’s a card that you should insert into the back of your TV so you can watch it. Google it and you’ll see some examples of where it goes (some TV models don’t require it need anymore).
Look for the card in the back of your TV, remove and re-insert it and see if it works.

  2. Check the manual for where the B CAS card slot is on the TV. If it’s inserted, you should take it out and put it back in and see if that fixes it.

  3. This tv comes with a “mini bcas”, its SIM-sized card instead of the big credit-card sized BCAS of usual days.

Check the manual for location of it: https://tclo365.sharepoint.com/sites/HQ-Downloads/Shared%20Documents/Forms/AllItems.aspx?id=%2Fsites%2FHQ%2DDownloads%2FShared%20Documents%2FJapan%2FTV%2FC%2DSeries%2FC815%2FDownload%20Files%2F80120%2D000761%2DC815%2DUM%2Epdf&parent=%2Fsites%2FHQ%2DDownloads%2FShared%20Documents%2FJapan%2FTV%2FC%2DSeries%2FC815%2FDownload%20Files&p=true&ga=1

Hint: page18, its under the HDMI3 slot. Push on the card to eject it, pull it out, clean/dust it, plug it back in and push until it clicks.
