Recommending a YouTube Channel for Intermediate Learners

I first found out about this [channel](https://youtube.com/channel/UC_2LeRvLoqcbLZ1ATud5NxA) from a post on this very subreddit. But that post was made months ago and without explanation of the channel so today I would like share what I like about it.

Wasabi is a vtuber Japanese teacher but don’t be put off by the vtuber title. Apart from her 3D model and use of a catchphrase at the end of videos, there’s nothing that should put off anyone just looking for fun, informational videos. I would not recommend these videos as a course for complete beginners, but instead as supplemental material for low-intermediate or above learners.

The types of videos you can expect are grammar videos, listening/reading practices, and daily vocab shorts.

The listening/reading practices are excellent. Wasabi has a series of [short podcasts](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyb3acPbfnD9JIA_md8Eki6YG9iT8PGC9) that are fully subtitled in Japanese and English about Japanese culture that I really enjoyed, and she’s also recited [short stories](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyb3acPbfnD-t1iUBFjyyDPa1ab0rTQs5).

The [shorts](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyb3acPbfnD8VI-qBX5LChnZjRg3Frxuc) are a great use of the YouTube shorts feature, YT’s answer to TikTok. They provide a few vocab words every day and Wasabi changes their format each month to keep them fresh. This month she is introducing idioms on top of vocab.

Finally, Wasabi is not just on YouTube but on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/wasavisawa?s=21&t=fe_rrPC5uxoabKQIuqUy8w) too. She makes regular posts, but better than that is she is kind enough to respond to almost any reply. So if you want to try and write something to a native Japanese speaker, I would recommend checking out her [Twitter](https://twitter.com/wasavisawa?s=21&t=fe_rrPC5uxoabKQIuqUy8w).

  1. Any channel focused on learning would be great for an intermediate learner since they explain grammar that you’re already familiar with. Channels that make actual content for natives are still way ahead of an intermediate learner skills. Which wouldn’t stop you to give them a try anyway.

Right now I can only think of ボンボンTV they make funny and very casual sketches that doesn’t have an extent amount of vocabulary and most of they’re vocabulary is informal. Their way of speak is very casual so if you’re around mid-N4 to high-N3 this videos are just really easy to understand
