Hi all, especially cat owners
Recently I got a bengal kitten (5 months old now) and I read online that the best diet for them is raw meat, sinew, organs, etc. I got her wet food pouches from Amazon, but I’d like to introduce a mix of raw meat when possible.
The problem is the area where I live is super small, so small in fact that the nearest supermarket is a 15-minute walk away. Do you have any advice where I can get chicken (for example) meat, hearts, liver, and the like in larger quantities / at lower prices?
Thanks a lot for any advice!

This seems like a post about shopping, maybe your question is solved by [the wiki page](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/wiki/shopping)?

I wouldn’t.
**The FDA, AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) all recommend against feeding a raw diet to your cat**. Aug 20, 2019
You can read all sorts of stuff online.
Please do not give your cat salmonella. The wet pouches are fine.
Given what’s happening in Poland with Bird Flu in cats right now I would avoid feeding your cats uncooked chicken. Just feed them high quality food. You can check the ingredients and avoid ones where the main ingredient is corn meal etc. I feed my cat Royal Canin wet food and Le Chat dry food.
Thanks for all the responses. Honestly, I’ve never had a cat in Japan before, but back in my home country we used to feed our cats table scraps and they also used to hunt (we lived in a house in the countryside). Granted, those were all mixed-breed and didn’t mind any food they got, and some of them lived 15+ years.
I was a little bit worried because everyone (including our vet here) said bengal cats are somewhat special and need a diet of at least 80% animal protein.
See if there are any particular brands your vet recommends.
I would still steam the meat if you were going to give it to them though.
I had my cats on raw/homemade diet for years. True story: on raw diets they shed way less and their shit doesn’t stink.
My older cat loved it any which way but the younger ones would only eat it fresh, not frozen. I don’t have time these days to mince their majesties their pate everyday so after the older cat passed I went back to store bought.
I bought my ingredients (dark meat, organs, nankotsu) from the butcher shop or Gyomu and vitamin supplements from Amazon. Also bought a powerful grinder.

My parent’s cat lived to be 18. She ate what they ate most nights, and cat food on nights they did not prepare fresh food for themselves. For example, if that nights dinner was beef stir fry, 600g meat would be bought and 500 or so used in the dish, and the rest in the cats bowl. If they had fish and salad, one of the fish fillets would be cut up for her. She got a raw chicken wing once a week to help with her teeth. Dad bought her liver as a special treat maybe once a month. Damn cat ate like a king but you can’t argue with the results!
