4. If you’ve ever worked in a Japanese work environment with the kind of boss or middle-manager from hell described in the article, you would understand why people would want hire an intermediary to help them quit.

   Just trying to take your paid vacation days can result in an unbelievable amount of pressure where they will attempt to use every psychological trick in the book to try to get you to give up. Some people have strong willpower and are able to argue back to their bosses, but not everyone is so resilient.

   This is of course on a case-by-case basis, but just affirming that this kind of thing exists…

8. I worked for a Japanese manufacturing company for a year and found that Japanese managers are absolutely horrible at changing because they simply don’t know how to. They train employees for years to do one or 2 things very well, critical thinking isn’t one of them unfortunately. I left and joined another start up where ceo is a young Japanese guy and its been much better than working with Japanese boomers.
