Seeking English-speaking Community in Hiroshima

I’ve been living in Hiroshima for a few weeks now and I’m loving it so far! While I’ve been getting by with my limited Japanese, I’m eager to connect with English-speaking communities or meet fellow expats in the area.
I thought I’d reach out to this wonderful community and ask for your recommendations on where to find English speakers in Hiroshima. Are there any specific hangout spots, cafes, or events known for attracting an international crowd? I’d love to attend language exchange meetups or join any expat groups that foster cultural exchange.
If you have any insights on English-speaking community centers, international clubs, or resources for people who only know english in Hiroshima, please share them. I’m also keen to hear about any experiences or tips you might have for someone who’s new to the city.
Thank you in advance for your help, and I look forward to your suggestions and stories!

  1. Have you tried looking for groups on meetup.com? That’s the first stop for me usually.

  2. Go to the Shack on Hondori. Often lots of English speaking people there. Especially on the weekend when the Americans from the Iwakuni base show up. The staff there are pretty cool too, plus they have a free pool table.

Haven’t been there since before covid, but I doubt it’s changed too much.

  3. My wife and I live in Hiroshima. She goes to a free (well maybe ¥1000 for textbook) Japanese language class once a week at peace memorial park. If you want the details for that, let me know.

  4. There’s usually some English speakers at Molly Malone’s. Like someone else suggested there are a lot of volunteer run japanese classes where you can meet people
