Hi all,
I’ll be heading to the Shinagawa visa center probably tomorrow to apply for my PR.
I was wondering if anyone got there for that purpose recently?
Are the queues as long as always? Is there a specific counter for PR that allows you go faster ? (I’m dreaming but who knows)
If there’s anything else related to that you’d like to share, I’m all ears.
Thanks!

I just re-newed my PR at Torihama so not exactly the same thing. I was in and out in 30 minutes with card in hand.
But I did used to go to Shinagawa. Your process will be more involved but I have found that getting to these offices early, even to get in a line for opening first thing, greatly speeds the process of getting in and out. As the day goes on and more and more people come in, everything just seems to grind to a snail’s pace.
I went there for my PR application in February. It took about 3-4 hours in total. I remember there was a priority line for people with kids.
I went there to apply for PR in March. Arrived 9:10 on a wednesday, by which time I was 100th or so in line. They do have a line specifically for PR, but it’s not any faster than the other lines.. probably slower. I think it took about 5 hours to get out of there.
Shinagawa is too crowded. Go to the smaller office in Tachikawa. Get there 30 min before they open and it should take less than 15min.
Been there last Friday, arrived at 11 am, finished around 3 pm. Was doing haiguusha with name change, a few extra steps.
Didn’t feel crowded at all, not the usual. PR looked overly empty.
Dunno about PR but i went to renew my zairyuu card (work) and it took 10-15 minutes. Arrived at 15:30 (closes at 16:00) and in my little small talk with a worker about how the layout changed, they said its way quicker than usual and theres no more need to wait a multiple windows. So i think its better, and way less crowded after 14:00
