Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but I would appreciate hearing people’s thoughts.
I am an American currently applying to Osaka University (OU) through the “Entrance Examination for Privately-Funded International Students Living Overseas (海外在住私費外国人留学生特別入試)” pathway. I already possess a biology degree and have passed the JLPT N1 and consider my academic track record to be domestically competitive. I am applying to 医学部医学科. According to the [2023 募集要項](https://chega.osaka-u.ac.jp/uploads/2021/07/1.2023%E5%B9%B4%E5%BA%A6%E5%8B%9F%E9%9B%86%E8%A6%81%E9%A0%85%E4%B8%80%E8%88%AC%EF%BC%89.pdf), the time period for the 基礎学力検査 and 面接試験 was 1/25—2/9. Given that this period has already passed, **and that I have not received any invitation to conduct an exam or interview**, I am aware I currently cannot do anything, but I just can’t wrap my head around the requirement for the exam and interview.
According to the 募集要項, “合格者判定は書類審査により行います。ただし、必要に応じて面接(基礎学力検査(筆記)を含む)を行います。”
It additionally states further down: “本学が面接を必要と判断した志願者に対しては、下記のとおり面接を行います…”
I have tried reaching out to the university about this multiple times, but it seems they won’t tell me anything not directly stated on the 募集要項 document. I’ve tried looking at their admissions statistics, but they only publicize the previous year’s numbers, so I cannot analyze the normal numbers.
My question is, do you think the above statements imply that you can still be accepted without taking the exam or interview based on the document screening alone? Or do you believe that if you don’t receive the exam/interview then they are unnecessary for you as you have already failed the screening?

I interpreted the statement that they will conduct interview “if necessary” and for interview, it will be conducted to those who are judged to be required (means that there are some people who are not judged to be required an interview)
According to the 募集要項, the result announcement date is next month, you can still wait for it.
