15 days Itinerary advice

Hi, my friend and I will be traveling to Japan in october/november. My friend has been to japan once, but didn’t travel around much. I have been there several times and I have already seen a lot of places. We will be purchasing the JR Pass.

our **preliminary itinerary** looks like this:

**Day 1**: Arrival in Osaka.

**Day 2:** Visiting Kyoto.

**Day 3:** Staying in Osaka.

**Day 4:** One day trip to hiroshima.

**Day 5:** Another One day trip to “unknown”

**Day 6 – 8:** Stay in Fukuoka.

**Day 9 – 15:** Stay in Tokyo, go to halloween party, day trips to hakone, fuji, nikko.

So my question is there a good replacement for Fukuoka (2 -3 nights)? At first I wanted to show the city to my friend but I just went there last december and already done most things like the yatai stands, ohori park, fukuoka tower, hakata…

Please note: We have already seen: Nara, Kobe, Himeji, Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto, Sapporo, Awaji Island.

We are interested in City/Nightlife as in Nature/hiking activities as well. Recommendations regarding another day trip from osaka are welcome as well.

I have also been thinking about either going the nakasendo path near nagano but I might be afraid of the bears xD

Or visiting yakushima but time makes it so that we could only travel there via plane which would be too costly and we want to make use of the JR PASS.

Thank you for your time reading this 🙂

  1. The section of the nakasendo between Magome and Tsumago that most people walk is only an hour on the train from Nagoya, so you could do that on your way back to Tokyo. I did it as a day trip from Nagoya but if I did it again I’d probably stay in Nakatsugawa or Tsumago. There won’t be any bears 🐻

  2. If there’s a way to extend your stay in Kyoto, I’d do that. There’s a lot to see there

  3. Get to Otsu, rent bikes, and ride the loop around the southern part of Lake Biwa. Optional, stop by the Biwako Terrace for the most amazing views!
