J-COM calling before moving in, how did they get my contact number?

I’m moving into a new apartment by the end of this month – and today I received an SMS from J-Com saying they’ll be calling me regarding moving in. Then they shortly did, which I didn’t receive cause I was just expecting a sales pitch or something. But now that I think of it, they don’t have any business with moving-in, do they?

Cause my real estate agent didn’t inform me of anything, and as far as I know, they’re just a TV/internet connection company (and my place has neither). How did they even get my contact?

Anyone faced something similar?

  1. If it’s a legitimate j-com – i.e. they call you back from a real number and not blocked caller id or a mobile/weird number – it’s possible the apartment has their service as a discount/whatever for new tenants. you sure your real estate agent didn’t say something about mansion/apartment internet offer?

and if its blocked caller ID then its most likely spam/scam.

edit: unless you absolutely have no other options, jcom is probably not what you want for your apartment internet anyway.

  2. It’s also quite possible they got your number via a moving-comparison site ~~of~~ or an “extra feature” you singed up with via your agent.

  3. I had a similar experience when I move, but it was an electricity company. They told me they got my number from the real estate agency.
