Hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction. I am a permanent resident, but although my length of stay has no limit, my card expires in October. I’ve been combing over the immigration website and really have no idea if I’m supposed to just show up to the office, make an appointment or what. My wife normally takes care of this stuff (she is Japanese) but she is going through a rough time with work and I am hoping to to take care of this on my own without leaning on her. Any adive would be apprectiated.

Just show up with [this](https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/content/930004180.pdf) doc and a photo, maybe your passport just in case. Takes about 15 minutes.
You can also do the extension of the card online, but I think you need a mynumber card for that.

It seems like you have gotten the answer. I discovered that when you renew the card you get a new renewal date. I thought the date would stay the same like a driver license, but the clock starts ticking the day you renew it. Mine was in March, but now it’s February.
