I’m hoping that they do. Do they heavily take into account I should say. I have significant interests that would be beneficial to my position as an ALT.

Not heavily. But they do look at that as an indicator of who you are as a person.
It’s good to have hobbies and interests outside of anime and manga because it will allow you to be a more interesting cultural ambassador. You can use your hobbies and interests as a stepping stone in becoming more connected with the Japanese community by getting involved with the same or similar things there. Especially if you’re into sports, you can join school clubs or a local club for adults and make friends that way.
Always spin these things as something that can help you do the job they want you for.
Not really. It’s never brought up in the interview (at least my interview).
I think they’ve added that question to see if u would be adaptable to try new things in Japan.
