Anybody here is working for Paypay or Paidy?

Just got a recruiter contacted, I’m really interested in fintech, but as always in Japan you can’t be too careful.

So if anybody could give some insights, that’ll be great. Thanks!

  1. Paidy is trying to recruit a lot. I have been approached too but refused. I don’t know this company at all, and those payment platforms appear as fast as they disappear.

  2. Know someone who worked for paypay. Said it was quite good but it depends on which side you were (softbank or yahoo with earlier seems to be more concerned with using others as step stones). Had full remote when Covid started and before that also relaxed environment. Precovid tgere was free breakfast every monday as far as I remember and not only water tanks but all kind of drinks for free (even soymilk). Heard also after work tgey had free beer taps but the person wasn’t drinker so don’t know the details. Also there were quite some foreign folks as well.

  3. Paypay were pretty much on it with a smooth interview process but the offer and the benefits were on the low side. The interviewers seemed at times stressed but the manager looked knowledgeable and professional.

With Paidy I only had one interview and I met a rather arogant interviewer – he mentioned that many people left recently and he was the only one left in his team so he got promoted. He didn’t turn on his camera saying he has bad lighting which I felt a bit odd. He confesed that they have no data protection in place (something they expected the new hire to take care) and employees were checking who buys what unrestricted but that only poor people who can’t get a credit card use the service so it’s nothing much to see.

  4. Paidy sucks, pay is pretty low (better than rakuten, but anything is better than rakuten)

  5. I interviewed with Paidy and dont rate the experience. The interview was to be run by the hiring manager and a team member. The hiring manager was actually really nice and did a good job. Half way through the interview a senior manager/VP (cant remember the title exactly) joined the meeting unannounced and proceeded to hijack the meeting from the hiring manager. he seemed in a rush to get it done and giving me a bunch of “in 3 words or less, describe …” questions. At the end of the interview he tried to close it without giving me the opportunity to ask any questions, I had to stop them and say that I had a few questions. Again, the hiring manager seemed interested to help me, the VP seemed reluctant but stayed and listened.

By the end I had totally lost all interest in working with these people. The VP just told me to wait a little while and “the system” will let me know the outcome… 🙄

The role seemed quite good to be fair but the way the interview went it didnt seem like a particularly nice environment to work in

    3/10 recommend
(challenging role and full remote gets 3 points)
