Best kanji learning apps?

What apps do you recommend for learning kanji, especially something easy you can pick up and put down on the train or waiting for a bus etc.

  1. I see Kanji Garden often recommended. It’s available on [iOS](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/kanji-garden-japanese/id1338967114) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=is.ky.kanjigarden&hl=en_US&gl=US).

A more robust option is becoming a paid [Wanikani](https://www.wanikani.com/) subscriber, which is a very popular kanji-learning service, and using the [Tsurukame app](https://community.wanikani.com/t/ios-tsurukame-native-app-with-offline-lessons-and-reviews/30635) if you have an iOS device.

I just learned kanji via Anki (available on PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS) and downloaded the many available kanji decks on Ankiweb. That way I could learn on any device and I could use the same app, Anki, to also learn vocab, via other decks or my own self-made decks.

  2. WaniKani is paid for but I’ve been breezing through it. I really like it.
