  1. Good luck mate, I hope it goes well!

Casual opinion… I reckon there’s need for informal counselling services while in Japan (particularly for those with no diagnosed illness who are simply struggling a bit).

While teaching in Japan I was in a small town, teaching long hours (10-12 a day of face to face teaching). This was great but my there was very little support when I had challenges. Thus, I’d rely on alcohol & onsens.

Today I spend a lot of time in Japan visiting my (abducted) daughter and it’s a shit show. I’m in a small town and the step-dad does everything within his powers to try and sabotage my visits. I see lotsa friends and go out a lot to help me keep it together (IMO I’ve developed some decent coping strategies that are worth sharing). However, it’s rough and finding support groups can be problematic as they’re all angry MRAs.

So… I wish your sub all the beat and dare say I’ll pop in some time. Lemme know if I can help in any way as I’m big on the child abduction stuff. Not looking to promote it but I run a small blog (nobody reads it) where I basically share a public diary of my experiences and my efforts to stay positive/practical. I’d love to reach a broader audience when discussing such things (which my blog will never do as I’m the world’s worst social media dude). Thus, this sub might be a better place to have such conversations from a mental health angle.
