Is my kombu ok?


I live a good bit away from a large city so can’t get in very often. I store my kombu in a cupboard not in the refrigerator. Went to make some dashi and noticed this white substance on the seaweed. It wasn’t like this before is it ok?

  1. those white crystals are glutamates, these are a good sign on kombu and make the dashi more savoury.
