How to ensure Amazon/delivery person hands me my package directly?

So, the card I use to access the oversized mail boxes in my apartment building got accidentally taken by a friend when they left to return to their home overseas. They’re mailing it back to me, but it might be a couple of weeks.

I have an Amazon package coming in the next few days. What delivery instructions should I choose to ensure it’s given directly to me rather than put in my oversized mailbox? I’ve chosen ‘Do not leave unattended’ from the list of options for now. Will this suffice?

  1. If you’re worried about someone running off with it, could you get it delivered to the local Konbini?

  2. There is a setting when or after you order where you can ask them to leave on your doorstep, bike basket, etc, but it isn’t available for all orders (I think it depends on the delivery company).

  3. If it’s being delivered by an Amazon associate (aka cheap delivery drivers), you could contact Amazon support and ask them to put a delivery note on this specific package. There’s no real way to contact those delivery guys direct – but I assume Amazon themselves can.

If it’s being delivered by Kuroneko or Sagawa, then sometimes you will get the actual ph number of the delivery driver (once it’s out for delivery), you could call them direct and instruct them. Otherwise get the tracking number and contact their respective support services – ask them to tell the driver to absolutely call you when they arrive, and do not leave unattended or place in a delivery box.

  4. The option should be “do not leave unattended”. However, if it’s small enough they may just stuff it in your mailbox.
