Sei-Shain question

im a sei shain for 3yrs. is it normal that my monthly salary not increasing? my bonus increasing tho. increasing 20,000k yen every 6mos. i have to ask because its my first time to be a sei shain. and my sei shain friends in my previous work saying that salary increases every yr

  1. Depends on your contact. Many seishain contracts say you will get a raise every x amount of time (generally once a year in April) but if your contract didn’t specify that then I guess you’re out of luck

  2. 20,000k man that’s a huge number what that’s like 20,000,000.

  3. Are you in a union? I think at my place if you don’t join you miss out on the Base Ups. We also have performance-related rises (or cuts…). This is at a huge Japanese conglomerate, and this year was the first Base Up, of 9,000 yen, for many a year…

  4. Check the work regulation rules for seishain employees if nothing is written in your contract about salary increases.

    It could be they are trying to skirt around paying extra insurance fees so instead take a “risk free” option of just paying higher bonuses

  5. Why do people think being seishian automatically means you get a shit ton of money? You could be a waiter and be on a seishain contract.

    It really depends on the type of job. That 20k increase might be in line with the industry.

  6. Yes it is normal for some companies. Your company can cut bonuses at will, but cannot lower your salary without your permission.
