1. Fun fact: Kazuchika Okada had a long IWGP Title reign of almost two years. This was the first title defense in that reign.

2. Great match.

I remember this match because of the insane thrust kicks that Marifuji would land on Okada(each one was sold like death by Okada) and the finishing sequence where Okada owing a nod to Misawa and All Japan/Noah fans by hitting the emerald flowsion. Awesome, Awesome match, and to think this was the first defense of the best title reign in history, truly set the standard for match quality during a title reign.

5. Remember watching this match live and falling in love with Marufuji because I never seen him before hope they work something out with Osprey to have the match happen since he has wanted it for a long time!

6. I remember being worked on this one because Marufuji fucking bodied him during their G1 bout.

8. Great match. I think it’s a little overlooked cos the same reign had stuff like Okada vs Shibata, Okada vs Omega but this match is definitely up there with those.

9. This is the first time Im seeing footage of naomichi marufuji, and Im blown away.

10. Marufuji is one of my favourites of all time I really hope he wins the triple crown and IWGP belt and becomes the only guy to win the heavyweight and Jr heavyweight of big 3 companies.

11. Marufuji has been amazing in ring for a very long time. I first saw him when he was tagging with KENTA in the Jr Tag division in Noah. Banger after banger, then he went solo and the matches kept getting better and better. He’s basically a living legend.

12. Marufuji is one of my all time favs he’s super underrated this was a dream match.

    The only thing I hate about Marufuji is he doesn’t win after hitting like 20 super kicks and 10 jumping knees in a row.
