What’s the best way to transfer Yen’s out of my JP post bank account to my Revolut account?

My JP card is only a cash card so I’m hoping to send the money over to Revolut (Yen) account so I can pay for things online and at card machines at shops etc.

Do I only need my Revolut IBAN and BIC number to start the transfer?

Any advice would be appreciated

  1. you can do a bank transfer to revolut with your account details. check the app for info on how to do it.

  2. You need a Revolut or Wise account that you opened **in Japan** to do this effectively. Then you can add money via a Japanese domestic bank transfer (aka “furikomi”) for a few hundred yen. The money will arrive within a few minutes.

If you are using a Wise or Revolut account you opened before you came to Japan it will cost you at least 7500en to send an international transfer to them, it will take at least an hour of your time, and I’m not sure they will let you send JPY. If they force you to send USD or EUR, it will be at a really bad exchange rate.
