Trying to use the e-Tax system but it just says “loading” in the center of the screen forever.

1. I cannot 100% remember what I did, but it has to do with some language settings on your browser. You should google the problem in Japanese, as it involves prioritizing Japanese over English in the language settings (I used Chrome).

2. Use incognito/private mode on your browser and make sure all extensions are disabled. Any sort of adblocking can wreck havoc but so can other plugins/extensions.

3. Don’t use Safari.

4. Set the browser to display websites in Japanese. (If you open up the browser console you’ll see an error message where it’s failing to load a javascript file for your language, because they’ve only put the Japanese one on the website).

5. There are very specific instructions that you have to follow, including your browser being in Japanese.

6. Changing the language fixed it.
