Audiobook recommendations?

I find a lot of podcasts fairly boring and everyone in podcasts speak very quickly, otherwise it’s something dedicated to learning Japanese which is helpful for expanding my vocabulary, and my grammar, but it doesn’t offer much in the way of immersion.

So I figured audiobooks intended for young adults would be useful to get used to pretty much everything except the speed of casual conversation. Any recommendations?

  1. Japanese Short Stories for Beginners. There’s a few different ones. They focus on vocabulary and some grammar after each one. They read the stories, read it again with translation after a few lines. Then have questions. I like that they have modern stories rather than myths, which seems to be the focus of a lot of beginner books, for children likely.

If your podcast app allows and it doesn’t sound weird, maybe slow down podcasts down to 75%. I don’t think it counts as native speed if they’re talking fast to pack in content.
