First attempt! How does it looks?


Tried my hand for the first time at making sushi. Everything tasted great, my rice needs some work and my knife needs a better edge for cutting, really happy with the first round and the price!

  1. Not good, but still edible. Cuts look bad and sushi isn’t formed properly, but in light of harsh criticism, the fish looks fresh.

    It’s your first attempt so you’ll get better overtime. Good job

  2. Off to a good start! Rice looks like it isn’t quite right but that’s okay, that’s probably the hardest part. The fish looks really fantastic. How did you make your rice?

  3. I find that wetting the knife blade sides and cleaning every few cuts helps a ton with sticking.

  6. The type of rice, how you cook it, the type of rice cooker. Vinegar type and amount all play a factor

  7. Fish looks good but to be very honest the rice doesn’t look great at all. Get a nice proper rice cooker. Mix your rice with vinegar and sugar to get that nice sushi rice flavor and texture. Test out your vinegar and sugar blend to your liking. You’ll get better with time!

    Good job OP. Sushi chef may not be in your future but you won’t go without sushi. Fair trade.

  9. I made my own nigiri, sashimi and rolls for the first time. I actually took the time to learn on YouTube. You obviously winged it lol. I’m glad it taste good. Did you season your rice for sushi?
