Hello Work and going abroad

I’ve recently started the process of looking for a new job and I’m using Hello Work.
My work visa is still valid, and I know while searching for a job, it counts as engaging in activities, therefore my residency is not at risk.

I wanted to ask 2 things:

1. I have a small emergency back in my home country, and wanted to go back for 2 week or so. Is this risky for my status? I’m sure the immigration office will be aware of it at least

2.What counts as me “looking for a job”? I know there’s certain deadlines I have to present my activities. But does simple applying to several companies counts? or do I have to at least get an interview? I’m asking since if I will go abroad, I could apply online in case I’ll need to. (and of course be in japan for the deadline)

Thanks!

  1. Looking for a job means literally that.

If you want it to be on the books, look for a job at the HelloWork and ask the clerk to stamp your paper.

You can also just write “I talked to a recruiter” etc, but they may ask for emails as proof. Best is just going to HelloWork, two days in a row is fine, and just asking to use the computers for a bit. They will stamp your paper and this will count as “Looking for a job”.

  2. Hello Work will know you left the country and will stop payments. You will need to reapply if you want unemployment money.

    It won’t affect your visa.
