Yahoo Auctions / Mercari Japan without Japan-Based Phone Number?

Hello –
I’m looking to purchase a 50cc scooter, and there are listings that strike my interest. However, due to not having a Japan-based phone number, I can not sign up for Mercari or Yahoo Auctions. I am a Japanese citizen.
Is there a way to use Mercari or Yahoo Auctions domestically, or proxy service available to use it domestically?
Thank you

  1. Why not just use your residence card to get a cheap SIM so you can properly register?

  2. If you even get to purchase it, how do you expect to import it to where you are in the US? Are there specialized services?

  3. First of all, if you have such a base of life in Japan that you need a scooter, you should have a Japanese phone number. Various services require it.

Next, try to search in Japanese as much as possible. It is easy to find.

  4. get povo by AU you can get away without paying monthly bills for the number

registration is fast on the app and you get an e-sim

to answer your question, i only know of proxies for overseas shipping like buyee or zenmarket. Since you’re buying a scooter though, better to purchase from your own account
