Looking for some advice for a 2 week Japan Trip.
Interests: Food, cultural experience, hikes, relaxing, off the beaten path
Dates: Sept 2nd – 15th
Draft Itinerary
Day 1 – 4 Tokyo (does not include travel day)
– Fish market
– Shop/street food
– TeamLabs exhibits
– Nijima Beach Day
– Sumo (if available)
– Asakusa/Shibuya/Harajuku/et al.
Day 5 – 7 Takayama
– Hikes
– Old town
– Sake/Food
– Kamikochi
Day 6-9 Kyoto
– The typical sites (bamboo forest/temples/etc)
– Potential day trips (Nara/others?)
Day 9-11 Hakone
– Ryokan Onsen
– Keisuke
– Relax
– Recommendations for accommodations?
Day 12-13 Tokyo/Flight Home
Our research lead us to wanting to do/see so much more but trying to make this realistic, and it just leaves us more reasons to come back! I think even the itinerary as is, could be too much but wanted to list all our thoughts/ideas to get insights as well.

thats a lot of things you want to do. But here’s my personal opinion.
– Fish market -(ok, dont need to spend too much time here, I’ve seen a few and they’re all kind of the same. crowded and a bit more pricey since they know tourist love to come here.
shops- there will be tons everywhere you go. is there something specific?(anime themed, clothing, gifts, etc.)
teamlabs- there are 2 Osaka and tokyo. honestly the tokyo was way worth the money though more expensive then osaka.
Bamboo Forest – it’s just 1 strip of bamboo for photos…… kind of underwhelming imo
temples – amazing (big fan) but tiring after like 6 lol so pick the largest ones
Nara- GO GO GO it’s relatively cheap to go from osaka or kyoto and you get to be around deer all day!!! (personal fav/ not for everyone) It was very much day trip material. No need to stay longer then that.
