I finish my degree next year in August, and my student visa runs out in October. However, I want to keep living in Japan. The catch is that I already do freelance work for businesses outside Japan that’s quite lucrative. Is there a way for me to get a long time visa without having to sacrifice my current work? Is is possible to get a work visa on a part time job? Any and all advice is appreciated.

You’d better look for a full time job …or a spouse (joking).
Are you even allowed to be working under student visa with the job you’re doing? Are you filling proper taxes?
No there is no work visa that allows you to work employers/clients not domiciled to Japan (apart from working holiday visa). So you’d need a work visa via having an employer domiciled to Japan, and then need immigration permission to engage in work for non-domiciled to Japan employers/clients. Also I hope you’ve obtained your 28 hours work per week permission from immigration while on your student visa… and obviously paying all taxes correctly on this income?
You could look into setting up your own business entity and obtaining a business manager visa. That would allow your non-domiciled to japan clients to use your business for their required business needs

as other posters have mentioned,
1. There’s no existing SoR for what you want. And getting an SoR for something else would not allow you to do what you’re currently doing.
2. you might be violating your current SoR
3. Reorganizing what your’e doing and getting a business manager visa to continue might be plausible.
For the average pedestrian situation, I don’t recommend it but I’d suggest talking to an immigration scrivener to see if they have an idea you could apply for (either business manager or *less likely* some sort of designated activities status).
Its not possible and what you might be doing right now might be illegal too
