How did you differentiate your answers for the teaching experience section from the work experience section on the application? I’m currently in my 4th year working as an elementary school teacher and so all my most relevant work experience has been all my teaching jobs. But I feels weird to just put the same things down for both sections. Wondering what other people in the same situation did!

As someone who was an actual teacher before JET, why not just work at an international school?
Let me know if you are interested. I know several schools that are hiring ES teachers right now.
I wouldn’t worry too hard about it, I feel like putting down elementary school teacher for both would be fine. Maybe word the answers differently if you want it to stand out more. Like I said though, I wouldn’t worry about it. And don’t worry about what that other guy is saying, if your heart tells you to join JET join JET. Getting to live and teach amongst the people of Japan is an amazing thing and a very fun experience. I’m in my first year and loving it.
I didn’t really, but I made sure to talk about how I am as a teacher vs how I am as a colleague in a school (social integration, clubs, etc.)
I listed it in both but in the work experience part I mentioned my leadership responsibilities etc and in the teaching part mentioned a few specific points like teaching ESL students and organising trips.
After 10 years teaching in the UK I’m thoroughly enjoying JET. I think it’s a great way to get comfortable living in Japan. If I do want to move to an international school in future, I have a better idea of regions I’d like to look at.
