Will Changing My Matress Fix Dani Issue?

I’m pretty sure I have dani in my mattress 🙁

I’m leaving Japan permanently in like 3 weeks and had already planned to trash my mattress when I go, so I won’t be able to wage a full prolonged war against them. Coincidentally, I have an old (but perfectly decent) mattress in my closet that I’ve been meaning to get rid of. Would swapping out the mattress solve my dani issue or will they just come back? Also I’ve heard that sticking your mattress in your car on a hot day can kill them. I have a car that sits in direct sunlight, so that’s a possibility. Has anyone had success with that method?

If it fits sounds like it’s worth a shot. The heat would likely kill most, then you should probably vacuum afterwards to get rid of residual body parts / eggs.

The other thing to try would be just putting it out on the balcony under the sun to catch UV during the daytime, and vacuuming it preferably with a hose attachment afterwards.

Swapping mattresses might work, but your closet mattress might also be full of dani if the closet gets damp or has lots of exposure to humidity.

  2. You can check the temperate that the mites are killed. I’m not sure a hot day in a car gets hot enough. Not that it’s useful for you but trapping them in a special cover works well. I did this once. You leave it on for a year and they are all dead. Certainly never spend money on a mite killing service. Waste of money when a cover does the job.

  3. Get the smoke bombs from the drugstore, and also there are sheets that you can put under your bed that attract them and kill them

  4. I had a problem with persistent dani.
This is how I got rid of the fuckers:

Dani spray from the drugstore. Spray it on the corners of your matress.
Wash ALL bedding including duvet and pillow and dry it in a high temperature dryer. We used the laundromat nearby which has industrial washing machines and dryers.
Wipe down your bed and surroundings with a wet cloth with some soap.
    Vacuum the matress.

It sounds more work then it is, the most of it is taking your stuff to the laundromat to wash and dry it there.

Get dani sheets from the drugstore or even Daiso and put them directly on the mattress under the cover. They have not returned ever since.
