Weekly Jobs Thread – 12 July 2023

This week’s jobs thread!

Post jobs you are aware of. Location is a must. Salary is strongly encouraged (yes even a range). Links to third-party job sites and “XYZ company has PDQ jobs available”-type comments are strongly discouraged and may be removed. Also, keep it legal and remember that this not the place for people living outside Japan to find a job in Japan—those discussions belong at r/movingtojapan.

Note: Rule 3 still applies. Employers that are not based in Japan may not post here.

  1. Opportunity for experienced PHP developer.

I was approached by the company inquiring my interest in this opportunity. Send me DM with a brief paragraph describing your skill set and experience with a contact email that I can forward to the company.

It is a remote opportunity by an overseas company with no presence in Japan. So there is no visa sponsorship and you must have a valid visa that permits working for foreign based company. The company makes system and software for order kiosks.

My email exchange with the company below.

We’re looking for a full time, long term experienced PHP developer to continue development and improvements on a large, stable, performant platform built over 7+ years in PHP, the stack is nginx/php/mysql, and a home grown framework.

We’re based in Europe (Cyprus) and a few other world wide locations like Dubai, Tel Aviv and others. We don’t have customers or prospects in Japan. The system is not localized, but that’s relatively easy to do. We’re a software company, but we can sell a full turnkey solution.

The developer can be anywhere. We work on a mostly remote basis, and have done so since founding. The compensation would depend on experience and skillset. The hiring process is relatively simple, we look at the CV, we chat a bit, and we might have a test task.
