I love sashimi and nigiri foremost, and don’t personally go for tempura or sauce-based rolls, but the amount of purist/elitist hate this post is getting is so gross.
Someone saying “if you only like tempura rolls drenched in sauce then you don’t really like sushi” as if this one minimally captioned post is emblematic of OP’s entire taste—like, why? And even if this is their taste, how is such aggressive gatekeeping helpful? Do you think that sort of attitude will make a newcomer to sushi more adventurous?
OP, you should continue to post whatever sushi you eat if it makes you feel happy, just beware because a lot of (typically shiny white) sushi lovers on Reddit love to flex their worldliness and think the best way to do so is by making newcomers or those only familiar with Westernized sushi feel smaller.
God forbid anyone thinks this is bad.. the Reddit police are going to be on your ass making sure you damn well know this is a safe space and all sushi is treated equally.
