About the Letter of Recommendation – Handwritten signature?

Hello everyone! Seeking advice regarding this as it wasn’t really stated anywhere in the list of requirements, but is there a need for the letter of recommendation to have a handwritten signature by the reference? Due to their certain personal reasons my referees cannot go to my house nor could we meet up somewhere as they live too far away so they just sent scanned copies of the letter through email. Will that be alright?

  1. Not sure about what your embassy requires but we must have the physical copy with a hand signature. They won’t accept scanned and printed. I had to get a reference to post to me.

  2. I got my referees to post the hand signed letters to me. I’m in Australia where it states that letters must be hand signed.

  3. As someone who is trying to get this part done right now, I didn’t even notice this requirement… I’m assuming it’s universally needed (US applicant)

  4. So what I did is that I asked my referees to sign the letter by hand and then scan it so they can email it through me inviting them via email to the portal so they could upload a PDF

  5. It’s done online…they don’t write an actual letter. You will input their email and then they will get the link to answer a few questions in their letter of rec

  6. A former JET delegate stated that it’s fine if it’s not hand written or if it doesn’t have a wet signature.

They could just email you a copy with their e-signature. You just have to print a separate copy of the screenshot of their email in which their email address and name could be seen.

You can watch teacher Mac’s recent video on youtube about the common mistakes of the JET applicants. He stated that a screenshot of the email is fine. He’s a filipino JET delegate

    I hope this helps.
