Bringing chicharron.

Hi, so I am currently on a vacation in the Philippines and I really want to bring some chicharron (cooked pork rinds). Do y’all think it would be a problem? I have looked at some websites and some says all animal products are a no go, and some says it’s okay if it’s cooked and sealed. So I’m really confused. The item in question is sealed in a bag. So I’m really not sure wether to bring it back as omiyage for my workmates.

  1. All meat products are forbidden unless they have a certified for Japan import tag on the package. This includes pork rinds.

You can buy chicharron in Tokyo from Asia Yaosho or Akabane Bussan though.

  2. You can find then at Mega Donki or Donki. They are very expensive for such low amount in the bag.

  3. I once brought in some summer sausage, and the customs agent found it and told me that I wasn’t allowed to bring in meat products and not to do it again.

But the weird thing is that he didn’t seize it. He just put it back in my bag and sent me on my way.

But long story short: it’s not allowed; don’t do it again.

  4. It’s not allowed.

Though I saw it countless times of my friend bringing processed meat products and went in just fine. Even though when it got checked during arrival.
Feels like the rule is more into raw meat products more.

But then for chicharron it should be sold in many places like donki, tastes good too.
Also wont consume a lot of luggage space.

  5. Amazon has some too. Probably not the cheapest, but I don’t really have anything to compare it with. They’re pretty good though.
