I’m interested in getting a Discover credit card and am wondering about the coverage.
The Discover website says coverage is good, other posts on the internet say coverage is dubious. For those of you actually out there attempting to use yours in Japan, what’s the truth?

My experience is they use the same network as JCB so as long as a place accepts that it should work.
Same with JCB cards used outside of Japan
From my experience unless the store specifically says it accepts Discover it won’t work. It was the only card I brought back from the states and heavily regretted it since I could use it virtually nowhere. I’d say MAYBE 15% of stores accept it. Supposedly it’s okay when it says that they accept JCB but I’ve never had such luck. Only when it *specifically* says Discover.
I think they work at a lot of retail stores, but not so much online. I haven’t used on myself, but one of my friends did.
None of the rewards that you get are applicable when you are overseas. If you are interested in getting cash back, you are better off going with a different card.
