Typing hiragana only on a Mac (no conversion to kanji)

Hi, I hope everyone’s found a cool spot! Trying to type up some lists and one column is for the furigana. I’m working on a Mac and switch between “romaji” and “hiragana”. Does anybody know how to prevent it from turning things into kanji automatically? I literally just want to write out the word in hiragana 🧐

  1. By default, just pressing enter should make it hiragana. Try turning off “live conversion” in Keyboard Settings.

  2. It’s also useful to know that F6/F7/F8/F9 after typing something will go between hiragana, katakana, romaji and wide romaji.
