I’m in Akita city and have seen the worst rains and flooding ever! Even the retired people from here have never seen anything like it.
My family is mad at Kishida for saying that Korea is doing a good job while ignoring Akita.
Despite that, I hope the national government helps out. It’s horrible here. So many homes, businesses, and cars are ruined and will need to be replaced or repaired.
If you have any questions, I’ll be happy to answer what I can.

Whats it like
I spent a day in Akita last summer to check out the Kanto Matsuri – it was the day after those heavy rains that washed out some of the train tracks.
Gorgeous scenery on the shinkansen in and the festival was wonderful. Didn’t get to ride the Resort Shirakami in the end but the 6-hour journey to Goshogawara was memorable in its own way… hope the area recovers, more people should check it out.
I wish you well. The rain will persist this week according to some weather news outlets
Been a while since I was there. Hope things are well.
