I’m a cabinetmaker and I recently got an apprenticeship opportunity in Japan.
I’ve been offered 1000 yen an hour. I currently make almost 3 times that as an apprentice.
I’m willing to do sacrifices, but I want to ask if it feasible to earn that much and live in Japan.

That’s the same salary a convenience store worker makes
Do you have the correct visa? Is this going to be under a WHV? You can’t receive payment if you enter the country as a tourist.
Cultural activities visa (where you learn the arts of certain crafts) is required to be unpaid.
I’m not sure cabinetmaker falls under technical intern visa.
No immigration official is going to give out a visa that allows work with 1000yen. That’s insane. No visa outside of WHV comes to mind that allows this kind of arrangement. And idk how much you have saved up but 1000/hr is nothing and how many hours? I guess if you pinch pennies and live in a hostel/sharehouse situation you can probably make it work. You wont’ be comfortable or have time/money to do anything else but you’ll be alive for the most part…
1000/hr sounds like hell to try to live on
