COVID testing question

Hey folks, sorry if this is a dumb question. My partner has COVID symptoms and we did a at home PCR test that looks like it showed positive for covid. As it’s a national holiday we’ve been having trouble figuring if/where to go to get a PCR test at a clinic, and as they have work tomorrow, we’re not sure what the steps generally are for getting proper documentation for proof for work. Any advice on the situation, or links to helpful info that I’ve glossed over, would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help!!

  1. Same situation. I found a clinic open on holidays and did a drive-thru check up. Just got home a minute ago. My place of employment doesn’t require any proof.

  2. Looks like it is positive, it is positive for sure. I think if you tell the office that the home test was positive that might be OK. If they tell you to get a PCR then make an appointment at the closest ENT. Search Google Maps for 耳鼻科 and make a reservation. Most have an online reservation on their homepage these days.

The one I go to has a reception at the door and they won’t let you in if you have a fever. I think if they suspect you have Corona then they’ll test outside though my doctor just tested me in the chair, just in case, (¥¥¥) and then went out to the car park in full biohazard gear to test someone in their car.

I’m not sure but the term for a certificate certifying a designated infectious disease in Japanese is a “指定感染症証明書” (Shitei Kansen-shō Meisho) might be what you need.

  3. I thought most clinics won’t do tests if you’re showing signs of COVID, and especially not if you’ve testing positive.

There are mail-in PCR tests available.

  4. Official guidance is to behave like you always used to when you got a cold or fever. I.e. use self-judgement and common sense.

  5. Note, unless you have a molecular biology lab at your house, the test you did at home was NOT a PCR test.

  6. If you’ve got a positive test at home isn’t that enough for your boss? What kind of hell hole are you working in?
