14 Day Itinerary Check – Osaka, Hiroshima, Kyoto, Takayama, Kanazawa, Tokyo – 7/23 – 8/6

Hi everyone. My wife and I leave Friday for our honeymoon and wanted to get feedback on our finalized itinerary. I also have a few questions at the end.

We have the JR Pass for each train and already have our tickets reserved.

7/23 – Land at HND at 15:20, tickets on 19:10 Bullet Train to Osaka

7/24 – Osaka – Plan is to not try to overdue it early and get acclimated to the time change

• Tenjin Matsuri festival kick-off in the morning

• Dotonbori

• Shitennoji

7/25 – Osaka

• Sumiyoshi Taisha

• Umeda Sky Building

• Shinsekai Market

• Fireworks show at night for end of Tenjin Matsuri

7/26 – Train to Hiroshima at 14:00

• Dinner at Nakashima Ryori

• Bar hop afterwards

7/27 – Hiroshima

• Take ferry to Miyajima

• Walk around waterfront/downtown afterwards

• Hiroshima Carps game at 18:00

7/28 – Train to Kyoto at 12:00

• No set plans. Wander around and find food

• Kazu Bar at night

7/29 – Kyoto

• Bamboo Grove/Monkey Park

• Kinkaku Ji

• Lunch at Steak Otsuka

• Dinner at Hotel Mitsui Kyoto

7/30 – Kyoto

• Fushimi Inari early (08:00 early enough?)

• Lunch at Nishiki Market

• Nijo Castle in afternoon

• Potocho Alley that evening

7/31 – Train to Takayama – Train leaves Kyoto at 10:00, arrives in Takayama at 13:00

• Relaxation day. Wander the streets but no set plans

Dinner at Cafe Uemura

8/1 – Train to Kanzawa at 11:00

• Otome Sushi for dinner

• Wander around at night

8/2 – Kanzawa

• Omichi Market

• Naga-machi District

• Kenrokuen

• Oyama Shrine

8/3 – Bullet train from Kanzawa to Tokyo at 9:45

• Yayoi Kusama Museum

8/4 – Tokyo

• Tsukiji Fish Market

• TeamLab Planets at 11:00

• Tokyo Skytree

• Dinner at Hashiri Shimokitazawa

• Go out in Shibuya City

8/5 – Tokyo

• Relaxation Day #2. Not setting any plans and will see how we feel.

• Dinner at Ode

8/6 – Fly home

Below are the questions I had if anyone has any insight they can share:

Has anyone attended Tenjin Matsuri before? How crazy should we expect it to be?

Any nightlife recommendations for Osaka, Kyoto, Tokyo?

Any landmarks/temples/shrines/etc. that we are missing that are must see?

Did we pack in too much for our trip? We tried not to overpack each day so that we could be flexible/not constantly running around

Any breakfast recommendations for Tokyo?

We are so excited for the trip. Any feedback/insights/recs are greatly appreciated.
